Our Story.....

The Dream...

After years of boring my family and friends about wanting to leave the world of media to buy and run a cafe/bar, In November 2020 I only bloody did it! (Yes amidst a pandemic!)

My ambition is to create a neighbourhood cafe/bar where people leave feeling better than when they arrived.

Where possible we want to serve local kent produce, to support local farmers, bakers and makers and do our bit for the environment.

The Vision...

We want you to feel as comfortable having a coffee and mushroom on toast, as you do a glass of wine and one of our charcuterie boards.

We’re not looking to reinvent the wheel, you can expect a fresh and well prepared menu, a mix of old classics with new twists, and our weekly seasonal specials keep it fresh for our regular visitors.

We want everyone to feel welcome, locals, dogs, cyclists, runners, walkers and also those just looking to venture to our lovely village and local countryside. Families and children will hopefully love both inside and outside in our heated garden.

The Design..

My wife Gail is an interior designer and along with her business partner Gaynor Christie, Christie Spencer Interiors have created what I hope you agree is a relaxed & welcoming space.

The brief was to create somewhere inviting and versatile in its design so you feel equally happy enjoying a coffee & cake, or a glass of wine and one of our gastro specials.

The Garden..

Join us in our lovely heated garden terrace to the rear where you can sit amongst the Olive Trees. It has a fully extending canopy to shelter you from the rain or sun, perfect for those post walk refreshments, or a weekend drink and nibble.

The Location..

Heathfields is located in the heart of Keston- a picturesque & tranquil village in Kent. Keston is blessed to be set in an area of outstanding beauty, with Keston Ponds and Hayes Common offering accessible and charming walks for all abilities.

Keston was also home to several historically important people such as Charles Darwin who used the woods to form part if his research into his theory of evolution.

The now named Wilberforce Oak also has its place in history, where in 1788 William Pitt MP was to have stated his intention to abolish slavery in the UK.

Even Julius Caesar was said to have stopped in Keston and drank from the now known "Caesers Well" sited on the edge of the Southern most pond.
